Kutless has been a staple in my music library for years. I was excited to have the opportunity to review this CD. As I began listening, memories of leading these songs in my college worship band flooded my mind.
Whenever I get a new CD to review, I’m always so excited to listen that I don’t often bother to read about the artist or the inspiration for the music. When I got Julie Elias’ album A Girl Like Me, I was in the midst of Christmas present wrapping, so I immediately popped it in and bopped to the uplifting music. It made me feel youthful and brought back memories of artists I enjoyed in my younger years. I listened to it over and over, enjoying her beautiful voice, the powerful lyrics, and the pleasant tunes.
As a member of a husband-wife creative duo, I always love seeing other couples serving together. Scott and Ginger Tabot have found a creative way to combine their talents. Live SoulFull is a music-driven Bible study with Scott providing the study material and Ginger providing music that enriches the teaching. Together they’ve created a multisensory experience.
Matthew West is one of my favorite musical artists, so I was excited to get the opportunity to review his latest cd, All In. I got it last week and couldn’t wait to pop it in and listen to it. I’m happy to announce, it was just as good as I expected. That’s one thing I like about Matthew West. He’s consistent. You know his music is going to be upbeat and catchy.
It’s always fun to discover new music to enjoy. I received my copy of Forever while we were in the midst of filming, so I listened to it while gathering costumes and getting props ready between film days. I especially enjoyed the instrumentation as it has a very soothing feeling about it. The entire album has a gentle, peaceful sound.
I’ve been a fan of Mandisa since the moment she first appeared on AMERICAN IDOL 5. I loved not only her voice but her sweet spirit and her courage to take a stand as a Christian. Since then I’ve followed her career and enjoyed listening to her music, so I was glad for the opportunity to review OUT OF THE DARK, her latest CD.
OUT OF THE DARK feels a little more political than her previous music, but it still maintains her high energy level, unique musical style, and bold faith statements. It’s great music to uplift and encourage you.
