Stephanie Champion – Actress, Photographer

I had the privilege of meeting Stephanie when we worked together on The Good Book. Like many other actors, she had an interest in theater for many years, but only recently discovered film acting. She has appeared in a number of faith-based films including 11 Seconds, Lukewarm, and The Good Book.

When did you first develop an interest in film acting?

Well, I’ve been acting on stage since I was fourteen-years-old or so. But a few years ago I landed an extra role in a major motion picture. I really became fascinated by all that goes on behind the scenes.

What was your first film/tv/video role?

My first featured role was as an exasperated mom in a music video for country artist Jason Haney.

What movies have you been in?

I’ve only done a few things, I was in The Change-Up, Changing Seasons, 11 Seconds, The Good Book, and  was thrilled to have a chance to work alongside (albeit briefly) Bill Cobbs in Lukewarm.

You play a nurse in both 11 Seconds and Lukewarm. Do you have a nursing background?

Ha, no, I don’t don’t. My mother is a nurse, but I am a certified music teacher & a photographer! I play a nurse almost as often as I play a mom, which I actually am.

What has been your favorite filming project?

I think my favorite project so far has been Self Offense, a short film dealing with violence against women. I really have enjoyed this project because I’ve had a chance to be a part of the cast AND crew. It’s been a pretty cool experience.

What would be your dream role?

I’d really love to play Ms. Hannigan in a stage production of Annie.

Anything else?

I recently had a chance to do still photography on a project and would really love to have a chance to pursue that a little more. It was fun. I truly love how I’ve gotten to meet so many different, amazingly talented people while getting to work on some pretty wonderful projects.
